datacenterdynamics.com – This week, critical infrastructure company Vertiv declared its intentions to become a leader in edge computing, at its European Innovation Summit in Zagreb, Croatia. The event included an explanation of edge applications, and showed micro data centers designed for installation at cell tower sites. Edge computing has been treated as a generic term for IT resources which have to be located close to the sources of data, or customers. However, the term covers four distinct kinds of edge, or “edge archetypes.
