With the 100G optics reaching technology and cost maturity, and going full speed for deployment in data centers, the industry is looking at 400G. As usual with next generation data rates, hyperscale data centers are the main drivers, but we can expect the rest of the data center community to follow. At OFC 2018, various implementations of 400G were presented – whose variants include parallel multimode fiber solutions, 8 channel CWDM option, a 100G per lane PSM4 implementation and more.
