In today’s era of intelligent buildings and the IoT, virtually every device is connecting to the network cabling infrastructure, allowing for the integration of building systems via Internet Protocol that delivers new levels of building intelligence and control that result in lower operating costs and more secure, comfortable building environments. Many of these devices—from LED lights and security cameras, to wireless devices, digital displays and building automation controls—can also be powered over the same cabling infrastructure using advanced power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, delivering further cost benefits by eliminating the need for ac power connections. Connecting all of these devices in a fully integrated intelligent building must be done using cost-effective design methodologies and components that support fast, easy deployment, enable flexibility and ensure performance.
