Tellabs and System Tech have installed a Passive Optical Local Area Network (LAN) at a modern high school in Idaho that reduces the square footage monopolized by telecommunications rooms, thus allowing the high school, and adjacent middle school, to utilize the former network equipment roomfoot print for educational needs. Located in south eastern Idaho, this 257,000 square foot contemporary high school facility spread-out across a sprawling 55-acres, installed a Passive Optical LAN (OLAN) system that extends the reach of Ethernet and IoT connectivity from 100 meters (over copper cabling) to 20 kilometers (over fibre cabling).
