Copper vs fibre in the war for horizontal cabling

Not many years ago it was enough for commercial buildings to install cables vertically for online access. Fibre optic or copper wiring ran from floor to floor to switch boxes installed in a small room at the start or end of each corridor, hooked to terminal equipment and a maze of copper wiring leading to desktop computers and telephones. But this is fast changing.
