Huawei has announced a contract to install a Passive Optical LAN (POL) at the Rome headquarters of Italian utility giant Enel. Based on GPON technology, the POL solution can deliver gigabit speeds throughout the eight-story building and provide video, data, and voice via one fibre cable, enabling a smarter network, said Huawei.
