Prineville, Or., should be a ghost town. Before it became one of the new data center hubs, unemployment stood at 22.8%. New data centers constructed by Facebook and Apple have turned the town around, and today the economy is booming. Unemployment fell to 7 percent, rent doubled, and the town’s hotels filled.
