The webscale company had plans to deploy 100G on a large scale between its
data centers but was held back by the cost of transceivers. The widespread availability of QSFP+ and QSFP28 transceivers eventually lowered deployment costs and allowed the client to continue to support CFPs while adopting the newer transceivertechnology to increase high-speed deployments.
