There is much confusion in the wire and cable industry regarding Halogen Free (HF) and Low Smoke Halogen Free (LSHF) product claims. In this presentation, we will provide clarity regarding these claims, from a third-party laboratory perspective. We will present a summary of current smoke / halogen content standard requirements; discuss newly developed and developing standard activities and the relevant test methods. The presentation will also identify the demand drivers for these product claims, as well as the safety implications for the wire and cable industry and end users.
