Some people may have stayed home for this year’s OFC Conference, but optical innovation continued. This webcast will cover some of the major technologies and technical discussions originally planned for the OFC 2020 show floor. Insights from Lightwave Editorial Director Stephen Hardy and a panel of industry experts will help fill the knowledge gaps changes in travel plans may have created.
The exhibit floor at OFC 2020 in San Diego is open and attendance is reported as light. More than 180 exhibitors pulled out of the conference. To provide access to the sessions, show organizers have made the technical sessions available via video conferencing.
OFC 2020 began yesterday, despite California declaring a state of emergency and cancellations among exhibit hall and conference participants. In response to the growing concerns over the spread out of the Coronavirus the OFC Steering Committee and Program and General Chairs are using infrastructure enabled by the OFC community to allow for virtual technical participation by the international community that has been impacted by the Coronavirus. Ciena and Lumentum are pulling out of OFC due to concerns regarding the . COVID-19 coronavirus. Show organizers say they still plan to hold the event as scheduled March 8-12 in San Diego.
OFC will feature multivendor interoperability demonstrations of the products and solutions enabling next-generation infrastructure. Technologies featured in the demos include: 400ZR, 400G Open ZR+, OpenROADM, Common Electrical I/O (CEI)-112G, FlexE, IC-TROSA, 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE), 25GbE, 50GbE, 100GbE, 200GbE and 400GbE and 400G on-board optical modules.
