Quick-disconnect M8 sensor cables and M12 field wireable connectors

New 5-pole M8 (Pico) quick-disconnect cables from AutomationDirect.com are available with axial or right-angle female connectors and pigtail wiring in 1.5, 5 and 10 meter cable lengths. The quick-disconnect cables have a 3, 4 or 5-socket M8 female connector on one end and 3, 4 or 5 open leads on the other end to provide fast and easy connection between field devices and terminal connections. A “lock in place” nickel plated brass or zinc coupling nut resists high levels of shock and vibration.

Industrial Ethernet Connector Round-Up

IIoT brings together a range of industrial devices that all communicate over a common Ethernet protocol, enabling the sharing of information across multiple industrial systems.  Industrial Ethernet connectors need to stand up to harsher mechanical factors (vibration, force and impact), the potential for ingress (dust and liquids), climate and chemicals (temperature, radiation and pollutants) and electromagnetic interference – these factors determine standards-based M.I.C.E. parameters for classifying components in an industrial network. This article looks at the types of connectors available for emerging industrial Ethernet applications.

Dedicated LC fiber connector tool

Designed to insert and extract LC connectors in high-density patch panels, the new FCT-200 from Jonard Tools is specifically made for working with LC connectors in tightly packed bulkheads. The FCT-200’s thin nose jaws can be used to insert or remove simplex LC connectors in tightly packed bulkhead spaces. The unique jaws easily grasp LC connectors firmly, without damaging them or the surrounding connectors.

FCC Chairman to lead TIA Panel Discussion on Supply Chain Security

TIA will convene public and private sector leaders at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 26, with U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai heading up a panel discussion titled “The need for supply chain security in a 5G connected world.” Panelists will review the global security risks of our current network landscape and highlight both government intervention and industry-led programs that are needed to secure the telecommunications network and supply chain.

Sometimes a Change Just Makes Sense

Network and data center managers have their own favorite brands when it comes to connectivity, cabinets, PDUs and cable management. But every now and then, a brand fails to deliver. That’s exactly what happened at Humana, the 3rd largest health insurance company in the nation. Despite their brand loyalty on fiber connectivity, the jumpers they were using just didn’t cut it when it came to port access in high-density patching areas or needing to change polarity on the fly.
