EXFO : introduces industry’s first integrated test solution for troubleshooting DWDM networks

EXFO introduces the Optical Wave Expert, the first device to integrate DWDM channel power validation and intelligent OTDR fault-locating capabilities on a single port. Designed to save multiple service operators (MSOs) time and money, the Optical Wave Expert equips field technicians to automatically measure, diagnose and troubleshoot optical fiber links.

Call for interest issued for ANSI/TIA-568.5

TIA’s TR-42.7 Engineering Committee on Telecommunications Copper Cabling Systems (568) issued a call for interest for document ANSI/TIA-568.5, titled the Single Balanced Twisted-Pair Cabling and Components Standard which will provide specifications for cables, connectors, cords, links and channels using 1-pair connectivity in non-industrial premises telecommunications networks. The standard will focus on MICE1 environments and will include cabling and component performance requirements and test procedures, reliability requirements and test procedures, as well as guidelines for adaptations to four pair cabling.

White Paper: The Role of PoE in the Modern Connected Enterprise

Power over Ethernet has become the new power grid in buildings. With new standards that allow up to 99W to be delivered, PoE has grown up and is ready to power connected devices throughout the office building, school, and hospital. Panduit’s latest ebook, The Role of PoE in the Modern Connected Enterprise, explores infrastructure considerations and emerging solutions for extending the distance of PoE delivery.

TIA establishes Single Pair Ethernet Consortium

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) established the Single Pair Ethernet Consortium (SPEC) to accelerate the adoption of next-generation operational technology (OT) and Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity. Founding members of SPEC include Belden, CommScope, Panduit and the Siemon Company. SPEC will provide vendor-neutral representation for technology leaders and users across the building automation technology ecosystem.

All About Alien Crosstalk Measurement

Alien crosstalk is the coupling of noise from one cable link to another. This happens if one cable is surrounded by many other cables in a bundle. We identify the cables that surround a cable in a bundle as Disturbers. Cables that can suffer from noise coupling from other cables are identified as the Disturbed cable or (Victim). This becomes more important as we increase the bandwidth requirement of cables for faster applications and the surrounding cables (Disturbers) impact the ability of the disturbed cable (Victim) to transmit data.  You might think that using shielded cables i.e. (where there is at least an outer shield) then alien crosstalk would not be a problem. However, if the shield is not terminated correctly even a shielded system can fall foul of alien crosstalk.

Belden’s Digital Electricity Cables reach distances and wattages that PoE can’t

Belden’s Digital Electricity Cables are available in copper for power-only applications, and in hybrid copper/fiber constructions to transmit power and data over long distances in a single cable run.
The transmit up to 20 times more power or 20 times more distance than PoE: up to 2,000W or up to 2km reach in indoor and outdoor applications. Digital Electricity Cables support Internet of Things (IoT) and convergence in venues such as airport terminals, convention centers, hospitals, high-rise hotels, stadiums and office towers.

White Paper | Bonded Pair Cable: Driving the Future of Automation

While standard twisted pair technology has improved, over time, gaps within pairs will inevitably develop. Download this free white paper to learn more about Belden’s innovative design to the twisted and bonded pair cable, which ensures you never have to deal with noise interference in your industrial cables, as well as how to accurately specify the right cable for your industrial environment.
