L-com Introduces 50/125, Multimode, OM3, OM4, OM5 Fiber Cables

L-com has added over 600 new OM3, OM4 and OM5 fiber optic cable assemblies to address high speed data center applications.
Major categories in this new release include:  MPO to MPO cable assemblies for point-to-point connectivity; MPO conversion harnesses allowing users to convert from 8 fiber to 12 or 24 fiber trunks, as well as 12 fiber to 24 fiber trunks, for use in 40G and 100G multimode deployments; and MPO fan-out cables with an MPO connector on one end of the assembly and LC, SC or ST fiber connectors on the other end.

Rosenberger to unveil data center, fiber-optic innovations at 2019 BICSI Fall show

At the Fall BICSI Conference, Rosenberger will introduce its Lyra Intelligent Micro Data Center platform ‘in a box’ for IoT edge and 5G MEC applications, as well as its FTH-9 Plus Wave ODF cabinet for Seismic Zone 4 “Ring of Fire”-sensitive data center installations. The LYRA IMDC provides power, cooling, UPS, cable management and cloud remote-monitoring. It can be installed in less than 3 hours with 40% space-savings versus traditional data center installations. Applications include small data centers, office areas and edge deployments.

5G to power Los Angeles smart building

Coretrust Capital Partners is employing 5G to transform its downtown Los Angeles tower into a smart building using a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) comprised of 317 multi-band antennas and 20 software defined remotes for fiber optic connectivity that cover the 1,244,925 million square feet of the 48-story tower, will provide improved cellular coverage and internet connection.

Kaspersky says malicious cyber attacks affecting nearly four in ten smart buildings

New research from Kaspersky shows 37.8% of computers used to control smart building automation systems were impacted by malicious cyber attacks in the first half of 2019. Most of the blocked threats are neither targeted, nor specific to building-based automation systems, meaning, it is ordinary malware regularly found on corporate networks, unrelated to automation systems.  But the attacks bring side effects with potentially significant impact on the availability and integrity of automation systems.
