Modernizing the Data Center Online Summit

Join the conversation during our Modernizing the Data Center online Summit as experts discuss what technologies and trends will shape the #DataCenter in 2020, intelligent network modernization strategies, and more. Spending on enterprise data center infrastructure grew by 13 percent in the last year, according to a report from Synergy Research Group. With a 23 percent growth in cloud-enabled infrastructure, IT leaders must explore avenues outside of traditional, non-cloud infrastructure if they want to future proof their data center. From SD-WAN and Software-Defined Data Centers, join infrastructure experts as they discuss what technologies and trends will shape the Data Center in 2020.

Understanding Propagation and Delay Skew in Cable Testing

Delay happens for all signals across all cable types, and propagation delay is the amount of time it takes for a transmitted signal to be received at the other end of the link or channel. The propagation delay in a twisted-pair copper cabling such as Category 6 or 6A is related to the nominal velocity of propagation (NVP), as well as the length of the cable and the operating frequency. You might remember from our previous blog on reading the top of a LinkWare™ report that NVP is used by your tester to calculate the length of the cable.

Webinar Registration – Zoom

Do you know which use cases 5G is realistically expected to support by 2025? Or how it will be possible for 5G to deliver on its multifaceted promise by then? Attend this webinar and learn: What 5G is (now) and it will be (by 2025), Which 5G use cases are likely to change our world by 2025 (maybe autonomous vehicles, maybe not…), Which near- and long-term 5G network challenges worry operators the most and why, from specific domains (e.g., radio access) to end-to-end network slicing, and What is needed to ensure that 5G fully delivers by 2025, if not earlier, and what can be done starting today.

The Newsletter Of The Fiber Optic Association

We’re only a few days into the New Year and all we can say is the outlook is uncertain. The enthusiastic hype that has filled the news in the past with promises of 5G solving the world’s problems has turned to skepticism. “Smart” cities are being discussed as not such a smart idea anymore. The latest battles in the “pole wars” we’ve written about before now focus on placement of small cells for 4G/5G, not on installing aerial fiber optic cables.

Optical Cabling in the Data Center: Preventing problems through testing

The seamless interconnect of data center facilities is needed to deliver lightning-fast speeds, and yet internet content providers (ICPs) have grown at such a rate there has barely been enough time to create the rigorous testing regiment necessary. Add the rising cost of cabling infrastructure and the array of interoperability protocols to the mix, and the scale of the challenge becomes even more overwhelming.

Splicing 200µm Ribbon – Getting Started on the Right Foot

The introduction of  200µm coated fibers in the market is causing a paradigm shift in cabling and splicing technology. These smaller fibers are found in loose fiber cables, and offer many benefits compared to standard 250µm loose fiber cables. The only real disadvantage is that currently most 200µm fiber applications can only be spliced one fiber at a time. If a technician wants to ribbonize these 200µm loose fibers for mass fusion splicing, the simplicity is lost.
