Huber+Suhner trucks out data center fiber connectivity for ECOC 2019

Huber+Suhner introduced its LISA Double Access solution at ECOC 2019, as part of the company’s extensive Fiber Connectivity portfolio. The high-density and modular cross-connect fiber management system provides a maximum of 3600 ports per rack, making it crucial to the support of high-density data center applications, and critical to future-proofing the industry, contends the company.

Prepare your organization for 100G data center Ethernet

As organizations increase the amount of data processing they do each day, some are starting to require hyperscale data centers. With the use of fiber optics and growing Ethernet standards, admins can make 100G data centers a reality. Leaf-spine topologies, Ethernet and optics research are driving the next generation of data center networking infrastructure. Stay ahead of the curve with these technologies.

China’s Data Centers Will Soon Use More Electricity Than All Of Australia

A new study from Greenpeace and North China Electric Power University reports that in five years, China’s data centers alone will consume as much power as the total amount used in Australia in 2018. The industry’s electricity consumption is set to increase by 66% over that time. Buildings storing data produced 99 million metric tons of carbon last year in China, the study finds, which is equivalent to 21 million cars.

Migrating to 100G and 400G? Nexan’s Calculator Works the Numbers

If you’re like most people in the data center market, you’re in the planning stages of converting to 100G links, or you’ve already started the installation process. Either way (and whether you like it or not), that means it’s time to start thinking about 400G.But what’s the best path forward to 100 and 400G? What cabling choices should you make today so you can cost effectively migrate in the future? Nexans can help you make those decision with our Own the Link Calculator web tool, recently updated for 400G.

4 Ways to Use Color Coding Effectively In Your Data Center

Undoubtedly, the effectiveness of data centers depends on their uptime. A layer of better visual management can dramatically reduce the possibility of human errors. Human errors and malpractices are a no-no as these things can lead to money-wasting downtime though cables come with factory printed legends. However, these legends are tough to locate…. Let us talk about how color coding is better than other cable management technique?

TIA-942 data center conformance: Table stakes

The TIA-942 standard for data centers is the world’s most popular data center standard. It’s used by well over 70% of facilities around the world. Data center stakeholders have been very concerned about ensuring that their data center was designed, built, and approved as having met that criteria. The new TIA program ensures consistency and conformity across the audits of data centers, which will result in better performance.

Infinium™ HD Fiber Enclosure | Legrand

The Infinium™ HD Enclosure is an ideal solution for fiber networks in data centers and building networks. The high-density footprint accommodates up to 96 fibers in 1U of rack space. This enclosure has many innovative features designed with the installer, contractor, and network professional in mind, providing a simplified process when installing or working within the enclosure.

IHS Markit: Global data center construction continues to grow

If there is a global recession in the offing, no one has told the top cloud and colocation providers. Global data center construction is booming, as the leading cloud and colocation providers will add an estimated 14 million-square-feet of capacity this year, according to a report by IHS Markit. In addition, another 4.5 million square-foot of capacity is already in the works for the first half of next year. IHS Markit is currently tracking 135 new data center building and expansion projects that are slated to finish this year.

Hybrid Cloud: Best or Worst of Both Worlds?

Vendors offering pure-cloud solutions believe that hybrid cloud only delays the inevitable full migration to the cloud, while vendors offering hybrid solutions (generally those with legacy premises-based systems) claim that it offers benefits that pure-cloud solutions can’t provide. Is hybrid cloud the best or the worst of both worlds? The answer is, “It depends.”

Four trends that benefit data centers

What are the key trends that are impacting data centers so deeply? Growth. By 2021 global internet traffic will increase up to three times. The role of hyperscale data centers pushing speed and innovation.New network architectures are required to support virtualization and unimagined transmission speeds.; and FOG Computing, which extends the cloud to the edge.
