Belden’s Henry Franc appointed TIA TR-42 committee chair

Belden announced that its noted Technology Solutions Architect, Henry Franc, has been selected to be the chair of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA)’s TR-42Telecommunications Cabling Systems Engineering Committee.
The TR-42 Committee develops and maintains voluntary standards for telecommunications cabling infrastructure in user-owned buildings including commercial, residential, and industrial buildings, health care facilities and data centers.

TIA’s cabling-standards development committee keeping busy

TIA’s TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems Engineering Committee is in the midst of a busy year, with multiple standard-development projects completed and several others underway. Meanwhile, the TIA also is at work launching a different standards-development committee that also will concern itself with information communications technology (ICT) systems, not limited to cabling infrastructure. This article will recap some of the goings-on within TR-42 and provide information on the formation of TR-60.

New and emerging cabling standards from the TIA

The Telecommunications Industry Association’s (TIA) TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems Engineering Committee is perpetually developing and refining standards documents to guide the specification, design, installation and administration of cabling and related communications systems. TR-42’s most recent meeting took place June 9-13. Based on subcommittee-meeting minutes and other reports, here is a rundown of some of the current and recent activity from TR-42.
