By Erin Leary As a senior IT leader, I want to direct young women to this field. But I can’t yet assure them they’ll be treated equally with male colleagues. IT is woefully unbalanced, at about 26% female, as reported by the National Center for Women & IT. And the more depressing part of that number? It’s gone down from a high of 36% in the early ’90s. That made me stop and think. Why is it getting worse, and what can we do to make it better?
